Licaps® Fusion Technology
High protection of moisture or oxygen-sensitive actives and rapid release for innovative and versatile products
Straightforward and efficient encapsulation of complex formulations for difficult-to-formulate actives
• Low-melting point compounds
• Hot melts
• High viscosity fills
• Solid dispersions
• Low-dose actives
• Highly potent actives
• High protection of molecules sensitive to moisture, to oxygen
- Licaps® shell design with new polymer: HPMC, well suited for moisture sensitive compounds
- Optimal containment with a robust sealing zone for drug integrity
- Technology option to fill under nitrogen
• Oral delivery of liquid formulations of highly potent drugs using Licaps® Fusion Technology minimizes the need for containment precautions during manufacturing
• Powerful alternative to powder or tablet formulation to overcome challenges such as formulas with poor compression property
New Licaps® capsule design ensures a reliable, leakproof seal
• Well defined seal zone enables 100 % fusion of cap and body
• Fluid entry channel ensures consistent and efficient capillary flow of sealing fluid
• Dual ring system provides a double barrier between the capsule contents and the seal zone
New Licaps® Fusion Technology
1: The sealing fluid is rapidly drawn into the space between the capsule
2: The opposing gel surfaces absorb the sealing fluid, and begin to fuse
3: The molten gel surfaces fuse, forming a preliminary seal Joining Fusion Drying
4: Gentle heating evaporates the sealing fluid, thereby forming the final, leakproof seal
Innovative Licaps® Fusion Technology provides a unique and versatile means for oral delivery of liquid formulations
• Ideal for bioavailability-enhancing, lipid-based formulations of poorly water-soluble drugs
• An excellent alternative for oral delivery of drugs in fast-acting, liquid formulations Licaps® permits dual-phase formulation delivery
• Capsule-in-capsule or pellets dispersed in an immediate release liquid formulation, allows for isolation of incompatible actives until delivery
• Modified drug release profiles are readily achieved through Licaps® dual formulation options
